You need to be building links every day your site exists. If you have a staff that can do it for you then that is fine, but otherwise it is up to you. Building links every day in large quantity will move you up more than anything.

Don’t be afraid to change. When you get to number 2 you are going to need to make changes to get to number one. For some reason at number 2 Google does not think your site is the most relevant to those keywords. So what you do is keep working until you are number one. Make changes that is the best thing you can do, if they hurt you then you can always change them back. You might be surprised what one little thing can do.

In conclusion I want you to be aggressive, go out and kill it when it comes to building links, and never stop. You have to have multiple methods to build links and then on top of that you need to execute every day. The more aggressive you are the better you will rank. On top of that make sure that you are changing things and testing to see the results. Wait about 2 weeks between changes to see what happens.
